Course Details
TTPOA along with Lubbock PD SWAT announces a five-day (60-hour) BASIC SWAT SCHOOL in the Lubbock, Texas area. This school will be taught primarily by the Lubbock SWAT team. The training cadre consists of experienced and recognized SWAT trainers.
Class will start at 0700 hours on Monday May 14, 2018.
Location on the first day of training is the Lubbock Police Academy, 508 Davis Drive Lubbock, Texas.
Students should show up for class in PT gear, PT test will start at 0800—bring BDU/clothes to change after.
You will be required to provide transportation for you and your gear to different training sites in and around the Lubbock area.
Course Topics
This class will focus on the BASIC understanding of SWAT operations, including: SWAT history, liability issues, physical fitness/wellness, SWAT equipment/weapons selection, intelligence gathering, rapid deployment/rapid rescue, barricaded persons, hazardous warrants, emotionally disturbed persons, vehicle, less-than-lethal applications, noise-flash diversionary devices, and chemical agents. This class will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercises.
Prerequisites
Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide agency ID on the first day of class.
There will be a pass/fail physical assessment the morning of the first day of class. Students should show up for class in PT gear --bring clothes to change after.
Students failing the physical assessment will not be allowed to stay in the class. NO REFUNDS
Any student unable to keep up with the class during the PT session, will be removed from the course and will not receive credit.
The PT test is the Cooper "Single Cut-Point" standard:
1.5 mile run in 16:28
300 meter run in 1:11
25 push-ups in 1 Minute
29 sit-ups in 1 minute.
Throughout the week students will perform physical excercises as team members.
Required Equipment
All normal tactical equipment including, BDU or other similar tactical uniform, PT clothing, body armor, load-bearing vest or web-gear, eye and ear protection, gas mask, handgun and shoulder fired weapon with sling (M16, AR-15, MP5) 300 rounds of handgun ammo, and 400 rounds of long gun ammo. Weapon Cleaning gear. Please bring any Simunitions equipment that you have, simunition ammunition will be provided.

The fee for the course is $400.00 for TTPOA members and $450.00 for non-members. Registration must be done on-line .
Payment should be made to TTPOA. Credit card payment is strongly recommended.All fees are due by May 1, 2018. There will be no refunds or course credit for cancellations after that date.
