Basic/Intermediate Police Sniper

TTPOA along with Fort Worth SWAT present a Police Sniper class that will fulfill the requirements for basic police sniper along with some advanced techniques. Students must pass a written exam and a shooting qualification.

This course will be instructed by the sniper sections from both Fort Worth and Dallas SWAT Teams.  Course coordinator is Sean Harris who is a 22 year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Dept. and for the past 17 years he has been assigned to their full time SWAT Team as a tactical operator, sniper and serves as the Lead Sniper for their unit. Non law enforcement includes 6 years in the Marine Corps trained and served in areas such as Infantry, Amphibious Reconnaissance and Scout Sniper.

 

Course Overview

TTPOA along Fort Worth SWAT will be hosting a Police Sniper Course June 25-28, 2018.

Overview: The core school is a 5-day 50-hour course that will fulfill the certification requirements for basic police sniper with advanced material to include ranging, reading wind and shooting exercises at extended ranges. Students must pass a written exam and shooting qualification.

 

Course Topics

Mission of the Police sniper, Weapon, Scope and gear selection, setting up the weapon and scope to each shooter, Positional shooting, varied Qualification Courses, learning MOA and MIL, 100 yard zero, dope within 100 yards and out to 500 in 50 yard increments, Target ID, Cold Bore Shooting, Data Book Documentation, Observation Drills and techniques, Internal, External and Terminal Ballistics, Low Light Shooting, Night vision Observation Drills and Shooting, ranging Exercises, Camouflage, Observer/Shooter Dialogue, Unknown Distance Course

 

Prerequisites

All students are required to be current law enforcement or active duty military and be in good standing with their department.  Students should be ready to show valid credentials on the first day of class.

Precision Rifle capable of 1 MOA accuracy at 100 yards

400 rounds match grade ammo

Sniper Deployment Gear and Equipment/ BDU Style Pants/Shirt

Ear/Eye Pro

Rain Gear

Sun Screen, Insect Repellent

Writing material, Calculator, Data Books

Food and Water for every day of training
