2018 TTPOA Basic SWAT School This 60 hour TCOLE credit class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: historical overview of SWAT, team organization and structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, structure clearing, chemical agents, less-lethal options, firearms and breaching. The class will be hands-on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercise at various venues in the D/FW area.

The TTPOA in conjunction with Irving, Garland, McKinney and Dallas PD SWAT teams will conduct a 5 day (60 hour TCOLE credit) Basic SWAT Course in the D/FW area from November 5th – 9th, 2018. The class will be taught by a cadre of SWAT team instructors from the D/FW area.

The class will start at 0700 hours on Monday, November 5th, 2018 at the Irving Police Training Academy, 2603 Esters Rd. Irving, Tx. Students will need to provide transportation to and from different training sites in the D/FW area. 

MONDAY morning students will need to show up in PT gear to complete the Basic SWAT PT Test.

 

Course Topics:

 

This class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: historical overview of SWAT, team organization and structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, structure clearing, chemical agents, less-lethal options, firearms and breaching. The class will be hands-on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercise at various venues in the D/FW area.

 

Prerequisites:

 

Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide an agency ID on the first day of class.

 

There will be a pass/fail physical assessment on Monday, the morning of the first day of class. The PT assessment will be based on the Cooper “Single Cut Point” standard. 1.5 mile: 16:28, 300m: 1:11 seconds, 25 pushups in one minute, 29 sit ups in one minute.

 

Students failing the physical assessment will not be allowed to stay in the class.

 

Required Equipment:

 

BDU or other similar tactical uniform, tactical boots, PT clothing and running shoes, body armor, load bearing vest or web gear, eye protection, ear protection, gas mask, gloves, helmet, handgun and/or shoulder fire weapon (400 rounds rifle/400 rounds pistol).

 

Payment Instructions:

 

The fee for the course is $400. A cut date for the school will be October 29th, 2018.
